When you pray, you need to know that you are meeting with Allah. How would you look like when you meet a queen or a king?  Of course, you will be wearing nicely and you will focus when he speaks and you would show politeness.
Remember, in your prayer, you are meeting with the King of the kings; you are meeting with the Creator. Before you start praying, take a moment to tell yourself to forget everything about this life and the work you need to do etc. When you say “Allah Akbar”, Allah will take out the barrier between you and Him and when you read surat alfatiha, He is answering you. So surat alfatiha is a conversation between you and the Great Allah.
As soon as you start thinking about this life and not focusing on Allah and your prayer, Allah will veil the barrier between you and Him. Think that how would you dare to think about life when you are meeting with Allah?
Another thing to help you in your prayer, think about the following:
1. imagine that you are praying (standing) on the sirat (the straight string that you will walk over it in the day of judgment in order to enter the jannah)
2. imagine that the jannah on your right and the fire on your left.
3. imagine that this is your last prayer you are praying and the angel of death is behind you waiting
4. imagine that the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him is watching your prayer. How would you pray when the prophet of the whole nation is watching your prayer?
When you finish praying, your prayer will either be accepted and go to the sky or else it will be thrown in your face because it lacks humility, devotion, faith, focusing, etc.
So people make your prayer accepted; otherwise, in the day of judgment you will be praying in the ground of fire which is very horrible.
This life is a test for everyone and whoever can keep his faith of Islam will win the jannah and see the face of Allah and have a nice conversation with Him. Do we deserve it?
We need to work hard in order to gain His mercy so we enter the jannah.
